Favorite
Patrick Reed 8-1
It is rare when I back a favorite in golf betting but I am doing it this week with Reed. The last favorite I can remember taking was Dustin Johnson when he won the Tour Championship. I see a similar theme this week. Johnson said it was a big deal for him to win the Tour Championship and he delivered and Reed has gone on record as saying that he really wants to win the Race to Dubai. “Winning the Race to Dubai and the European Tours’ Order of Merit has always been a goal of mine.” Reed said to the media, “I came close in 2018 and you can bet I will do my best to earn the top spot.” Reed is a deserving favorite this week and I can’t pass him up at odds of 8-1 when I think he is going to win.
Value Plays
Matt Wallace 20-1
I was hoping for at least 25-1 on Wallace, but he played well last week in the Golf in Dubai Championship so his odds have come down. He finished tied for second in this event last year and there is no doubt he plays well in Dubai. He has momentum and I think he can be in the mix this week.
Victor Perez 40-1
Perez has played well this season with a couple of runner-up finishes at two of the four Rolex Series events. He looks undervalued in this event. “I’m in a great position on the Race to Dubai and it would be an honor to finish the year as European Number One," said Perez to the media, "I really enjoyed my first experience of the DP World Tour Championship last year, so I’m looking forward to returning with a chance of winning the Race to Dubai.” I think Perez is a live longshot at 40-1.
Lee Westwood 40-1
I have to take a flyer on Westwood at this number. He has had a bit of a resurgence this season and it is not out of the question that he wins this event. He still hits the ball far enough and his GIR numbers are solid. I will take a chance on him at the big number.
