It’s a crying shame that I ended up with a losing record on my NFL Parlay Picks during the regular season. I came painfully close to hitting both my Week 18 Parlays and winning either parlay would have left me in the black this season.

My Underdog Moneyline Parlay of the Week had odds of almost 14-1, and the bigger longshot hit as Chicago upset Green Bay as a double-digit underdog per the football betting odds. The Bears benefited greatly from a Josh Blackwell punt return touchdown and needed a 51-yard field goal from Cairo Santos as time expired to get the win, but they got the job done. However, the Dallas Cowboys failed to defeat the Washington Commanders even after Jayden Daniels was pulled early due to a leg issue. Dallas led most of the way despite being more than a touchdown underdog on the NFL betting line, but Marcus Mariota led the Cowboys on a 91-yard drive in the final minutes before connecting with Terry McLaurin for the game-winning touchdown with three seconds left. That loss stung even more as I considered taking both New England and Carolina in this spot, but I stuck with Dallas.

The Total Parlay of the Week was also a loser. New England and Buffalo combined to score 39 points, putting the game over the number by a single point. Neither team played its starting quarterback, but rookie Joe Milton III was better than anyone expected. Still, there were just 566 total yards of offense, and one of the touchdowns came from Milton fumbling on his own 16-yard line. Of course, the Under in the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants cashed easily as there were just 13 points after three quarters.

South Division Parlay of the Week

Houston Texans +143 vs. Los Angeles Chargers Tampa Bay Buccaneers -158 vs. Washington Commanders $100 to win $296.80

Everyone assumes Houston will be one and done given what we saw from the Texans over the second half of the season. They only beat one opponent with a winning record this season, and they looked dreadful against the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas. However, the Los Angeles Chargers haven’t been that much more impressive. The Chargers have won three straight games to close out the year, but they have a negative total yardage differential. This is a very predictable offense under Jim Harbaugh, and I think DeMeco Ryans will have a solid scheme against it.

As for Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers have a very explosive offense. Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, and Bucky Irving should be able to lead this offense to a productive outing against Washington, while I expect Jayden Daniels to struggle in his first playoff game. The Buccaneers defeated the Commanders 37-20 in Week 1, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar scoreline.

Total Parlay of the Week

Under 43.5 in Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh SteelersUnder 47 in Buffalo Bills vs. Denver Broncos

$100 to win $270.92

I just don’t get why Pittsburgh-Baltimore has a total in the 40s. Eight straight games between the Steelers and Ravens had less than 40 points before their showdown a few weeks ago. These defenses know each other very well, and I don’t think we will see a high-scoring game given Lamar Jackson’s postseason problems. Jackson has completed just 57.4% of his passes for 6.8 YPG with six touchdowns and six interceptions in six career playoff starts. Baltimore is 2-4 in those games, averaging just 16 points in those tilts.

We are expected to see quite a bit of snow in Buffalo over the next week. Snow doesn’t usually have a big impact on totals, but it is a little eyebrow raising that this total is in the high 40s considering the weather forecast. Additionally, Denver is starting a rookie quarterback on the road, and Bo Nix never played in the snow in his career before earlier this season. The Broncos are good enough on defense to limit Josh Allen too, so I am anticipating a 27-13 type win for Buffalo.
