Unfortunately, I was unable to move into the black with my NFL Parlay Picks last week as I did with my NFL Best Bets. My Underdog Moneyline Parlay of the Week turned out to be a big loser as the New York Giants were incredibly inept against the Atlanta Falcons, throwing two pick sixes as the Falcons cruised to an easy victory in Michael Penix’s first start under center. Additionally, Pittsburgh was worn down by Baltimore in the fourth quarter and stood no chance of pulling off the upset.

The Total Parlay of the Week was a loser too, but at least one of the legs won. Las Vegas and Jacksonville combined to score just 33 points, finishing well short of the total. However, there wasn’t much defense played in the tilt between Tennessee and Indianapolis. Jonathan Taylor ran for three touchdowns in a game that finished with 68 points, soaring over the total and making this bet a loser.

Week 17 NFL Parlay Picks

Underdog Moneyline Parlay of the Week

New York Jets +347 at Buffalo Bills

New England Patriots +196 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

$100 to win $1,223.12

This is probably my favorite longshot parlay of the year. There are always a lot of upsets in the final few weeks of the NFL season, and there is a ton of value in both the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. I spelled out the case for the Jets in my NFL Best Bets article, and I’m stunned the football betting line has only moved a point in their favor following Kansas City’s win over Pittsburgh on Christmas. Buffalo can no longer clinch the No. 1 seed, so the Bills should start resting players prior to the start of the playoffs. They only need to win one of their last two games to beat out Baltimore for the No. 2 seed, and the Jets played them tough earlier in the season.

New England is 3-12 with five straight losses, but the Patriots have looked good in three of those defeats. They came close to knocking off the Los Angeles Rams, should have beaten the Indianapolis Colts, and kept it tight throughout their game with Buffalo last week. Rookie Drake Maye has looked better under center, and the Pats are playing a Los Angeles Chargers’ team that hasn’t been particularly impressive despite a 9-6 record.

Total Parlay of the Week

Under 48 in Los Angeles Rams vs. Arizona CardinalsUnder 39.5 in Cleveland Browns vs. Miami Dolphins

$100 to win $270.92

Arizona has played some high scoring games over the last month, but this is too many points given Kyler Murray’s historic struggles in the last several games of the season. At first, we thought these issues were the result of the Kliff Kingsbury offense, yet it’s become clear after six years that this is a common issue with Murray. The former No. 1 overall pick has thrown four touchdown passes and five interceptions in Arizona’s last five games, and the Cardinals no longer have anything to play for after their dreadful loss to Carolina last week. Meanwhile, we have seen the Los Angeles Rams play much better on defense in recent weeks. They surrendered just six points to San Francisco and nine points to the New York Jets last week, as Jared Verse is the odds-on favorite to be named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year by the NFL futures odds.

Cleveland and Miami were initially supposed to play on Sunday Night Football in Week 17. The NFL and NBC decided to flex this game out of primetime though as both the Browns and the Dolphins have been disappointments this season.

I don’t think either team will break 20 points in this game. Although the weather in Cleveland won’t be bad, Tua Tagovailoa’s struggles in cold weather have been well-documented. Furthermore, Tagovailoa has not played well the last two weeks, and he is limited with a hip injury. As for the Browns, they are going to give Dorian Thompson-Robinson another start under center. DTR has been awful in 13 appearances over the last two years, completing 52.8% of his passes for just 3.9 YPA with one touchdown pass against nine interceptions.
