The Baltimore Ravens got into the win column last week against the Dallas Cowboys, and they are now out to get back to .500 against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football. Buffalo is unbeaten at 3-0 and smashed Jacksonville 47-10 on Monday Night Football last week. Despite that blowout victory, the Bills are slight underdogs per the NFL Betting Line going into Baltimore.

Week 4 Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens

Buffalo Bills +2

Baltimore Ravens -2

Total 46.5

There has been little movement for this Week 4 Sunday Night Football tilt since the opening NFL odds were released last Sunday evening. Baltimore was initially a 2.5-point favorite, so there has been a little bit more action on the Bills than the Ravens. The total has drifted up by a point from 45.5 as MVP favorite Josh Allen is starting to get a lot of media hype.

Buffalo Bills Overview

It’s been a solid start to the season for the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo is 3-0 and atop the AFC East as the offense leads the league in scoring with 37.3 PPG. However, they have benefited greatly from turnovers (+5 so far this season). The Bills are averaging just 329 YPG thus far.

Allen has yet to throw for more than 300 yards in a game so far this season. He has completed 54 of 72 passes for 634 yards with seven touchdowns. He has also run the ball 17 times for 85 yards and two scores, and he has only been sacked twice. That has made him effective, but he isn’t racking up a ton of yards in this system.

James Cook is averaging 4.6 YPC while finally giving Buffalo a real threat on the ground, while Khalil Shakir is the leading receiver. Rookie Keon Coleman has shown that he can stretch the field, and tight end Dalton Kincaid is another nice option in the passing game.

The Buffalo defense has looked strong through three games. This team is allowing just 4.2 yards per play (2nd in the NFL), and the Bills are pretty healthy on this side of the ball. Linebacker Terrel Bernard and nickel back Taron Johnson are expected to miss the game, but the only other potential ding is that Kaiir Elam is questionable. This defensive line is tough up front too as Von Miller continues to thrive as a situational pass-rusher despite being 35.

Baltimore Ravens Overview

Two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson has been excellent under center so far this year for Baltimore. Jackson has completed 65.6% of his passes for 702 yards (7.8 YPA) with three touchdowns and an interception. He continues to be an incredibly dynamic runner too, picking up 254 yards while averaging 7.3 YPC.

Derrick Henry has proven he still has something left in the tank too as he closes in on 10,000 career rushing yards. Henry is once again one of the top five running backs in the league with 281 yards (5.0 YPC) and four touchdowns already.

It’s been impressive to see Baltimore move the ball well without any real deep threats at receiver. Zay Flowers is a solid underneath receiver with 16 receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown, and tight end Isaiah Likely has stepped up in a big way as Mark Andrews has faded into the background. However, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor don’t exactly inspire fear into the hearts of defenses.

Baltimore ranks first in the NFL in run defense. The Ravens are allowing 2.8 YPC and 50.0 YPG on the ground. They rank dead last in pass defense, however, a lot of that is due to how their last two games have gone. Opponents have thrown the ball against this defense on over 70% of plays, and that has led to inflated numbers despite the presence of solid defensive backs like Marlon Humphrey, Kyle Hamilton, and Marcus Williams.

Sunday Night Football Prediction

Buffalo will suffer its first loss of the season at the hands of Baltimore. The Ravens will be able to move the ball just enough with Jackson and Henry, while Allen and the Bills won’t be nearly as effective at putting points on the board.

Final Score: Baltimore 23, Buffalo 17
