I might have ended the regular season with a losing record on my NFL Parlay Picks, but I was able to break into the win column early in the playoffs. My Total Parlay of the Week cashed as Baltimore and Pittsburgh squeezed its way under the total thanks to a scoreless fourth quarter. The Steelers allowed 6.0 YPC, but the Ravens were very vanilla on offense over the last 20 minutes of game time, giving me a fortunate win on the first leg of this parlay. I didn’t need to sweat the second leg as Buffalo completely smothered Denver’s offense after allowing a touchdown on the first drive, resulting in that game falling well short of the total.
My South Division Parlay of the Week looked great on Saturday. Everyone was on the Los Angeles Chargers in the first game of the playoffs, but Houston’s defense stiffened up after a rough first quarter and forced four interceptions out of Justin Herbert. The Texans ended up winning 32-12 to move on to the Divisional Round, and I stood a good chance of cashing both my Wild Card Round NFL Parlay Picks. Tampa Bay let me down in the second leg though. The Buccaneers simply needed to win, but rookie Jayden Daniels proved to be too much. Although the Buccaneers averaged 6.5 yards per play compared to just 5.1 yards per play for the Commanders, Washington ran a whopping 25 more plays after converting on third or fourth down 11 times.

Houston Texans +9.5 at Kansas City Chiefs Los Angeles Rams ML at Philadelphia Eagles$100 to win $496.85
Kansas City was never able to pull ahead by double digits in its previous tilt with Houston last month. The Chiefs may have gone 15-2, but if they were any other team, we would be having in-depth conversations about how good they were as they finished the season just +59 in point differential, putting them well behind four other conference foes in that department. Houston’s secondary has done a great job forcing mistakes out of quarterbacks, and the Texans may even be able to flummox the great Patrick Mahomes.
Anyone who watched Philadelphia last week must be having serious doubts about the Eagles’ Super Bowl prospects. Jalen Hurts had another rough game under center, and the Eagles only led by six points in the fourth quarter despite three first-half turnovers for Green Bay and a missed 38-yard field goal from the Packers. The Los Angeles Rams have a major coaching advantage, and this young defense has come together well enough to make me believe the Rams have a very good chance of pulling off the upset.
Total Parlay of the Week
Under 55.5 in Detroit Lions vs. Washington CommandersUnder 51 in Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens
$100 to win $277.70
Everyone seems to be expecting a shootout between Detroit and Washington on Saturday night, but I just don’t see it. The Commanders do not have a high-scoring offense, and the only skill position player that is a real threat is Terry McLaurin. This offense under Jayden Daniels has been good at moving the chains and winning the time of possession battle, but they don’t score a ton. I fully expect Dan Quinn to install a gameplan that will keep Detroit’s offense off the field as much as possible, keeping the total for this game in the 40s or low 50s.
Baltimore pasted Buffalo 35-10 when these teams met on Sunday Night Football back in September. Josh Allen struggled to get much done through the air, while Derrick Henry ran all over the Buffalo defense. However, I have major concerns about the Ravens’ offense in the rematch. Lamar Jackson didn’t do much aside from dumping off to Justice Hill in the passing game the first time around, and the two-time NFL MVP’s struggles in the postseason are well-documented. In seven playoff games, Baltimore is averaging just 17.7 PPG, and Jackson was dreadful against the Bills in Buffalo in the Divisional Round four years ago.
