In one distinct way can Brandon Adams relate to Jermall Charlo in preparation for their upcoming SHOWTIME showdown for the interim World Boxing Council world middleweight championship on June 29. Adams won the middleweight championship final of The Contender in his own backyard of Los Angeles, California. But now the worm has turned. Charlo will be fighting in his own backyard otherwise known as the NRG Arena in Houston, Texas. As such the defending champion will be the favorite at Top rated sportsbooks to retain his title. While Adams has made a remarkable recovery with four straight wins that followed a two-year break from the sport the fact remains Charlo is in top form. Furthermore, Charlo has a level of championship experience that Adams can’t match.

Fight Preview
Adams knows full well that he is considered a prohibitive underdog at Online sportsbooks for his SHOWTIME showdown with Charlo. But he believes his success in The Contender prepared him well for this fight.
“Before The Contender I felt that I didn't have an opportunity to show how good I am,” notes Adams of his finally conquering his tournament challenges of the past. “During the whole series it was about getting back in the ring and shaking off the rust, then showcasing who I am.”
"Winning The Contender helped get me here, but I always had confidence and believed in myself since day one,” insists Adams “In choosing to accept Charlo's challenge, I had it in my mind that I belong here.”
“It was pressure every time I fought on The Contender,” recalls Adams. “Each round were quality opponents leading up to the final and all of that will prepare me for Charlo.”
As defending champion Charlo feels he is the man under pressure as the expected large favorite at Offshore sportsbooks.
“The pressure isn’t on him,” said Charlo. “It’s on me, because I’m fighting in my hometown and I’m going to deliver what the fans have come to expect from me.”
Despite the pressure that he feels Charlo is fired up about having a championship fight in his hometown.
“It’s time for me to put up for my city of Houston,” said Charlo. “That’s the way I feel about fighting in my hometown. You know how hot it gets down here in the summer and no one is going to be able to take this heat that I’m about to deliver. I’ve been working hard with Ronnie Shields and making some adjustments and now you’re going to see me back with knockout power. I know Brandon Adams is looking at this as a big opportunity, but it’s a big step up for him.”
Considering that Charlo has won all five of his previous title defense bouts for his career Adams indeed has a daunting task.
Adams comes off as determined but less flamboyant though determined.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity and ready to prove that I belong in the conversation as one of the top fighters in the middleweight division,” said Adams. “This is an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. They must feel that I am beatable, and want to use my name that I built up on The Contender, so now I need to show why I won The Contender and continue my winning ways. Charlo is a solid fighter and he’s a champion for a reason. I look forward to matching skills with him and showcasing my ability.”
