It is a busy weekend of NBA action with six games on Saturday and eight on Sunday and there is a plethora of nationally televised contests. ABC has the Warriors at the Lakers on Saturday and then ABC and ESPN have two games each on Sunday. ABC has the Nets at the Celtics as the first game of the day on Sunday and they follow that up with an NBA Finals rematch as the Suns visit the Bucks. ESPN has two of the night games, as they will be showing the Raptors at the Cavaliers and the Knicks at the Clippers. Let’s look at weekend NBA picks for Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6.
Saturday, March 5 NBA Schedule
Sacramento at Dallas, 5 p.m. ET
San Antonio at Charlotte, 7 p.m. ET
Philadelphia at Miami, 8 p.m. ET
Orlando at Memphis, 8 p.m. ET
Portland at Minnesota, 8 p.m. ET
Golden State at LA Lakers, 8:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
Saturday NBA Picks
The first game on Saturday has the Kings visiting the Mavericks. The public will be all over the Mavericks in this game, but the Kings have been a good bet against the spread in Dallas through the years. They are 7-3 ATS in their last ten trips to Dallas. I’ll take the Kings plus the points.
The Magic visit the Grizzlies in a game where I will focus on the total. These teams have played a lot of games that have been lower scoring than expected. Eight of the last ten in this series at Memphis have been under the total. I’ll look for the trend to continue and take this game under the total.
Sunday, March 6 NBA Schedule
Brooklyn at Boston, 1 p.m. ET (ABC)
Phoenix at Milwaukee, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
Indiana at Washington, 6 p.m. ET
Memphis at Houston, 7 p.m. ET
Utah at Oklahoma City, 7 p.m. ET
Toronto at Cleveland, 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
New Orleans at Denver, 8 p.m. ET
New York at LA Clippers, 10 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Sunday NBA Picks
The first nationally televised game on Sunday has the Nets at the Celtics. When these two teams get together in Boston the games have been high scoring. Six of the last seven at Boston have gone over the total. I will go with the trends and take this game over the total.
The NBA Finals rematch between the Suns and Bucks will not have the same feel, as the Suns are without Chris Paul and who knows the status of Devin Booker who was placed in COVID protocol earlier this week. The Suns already got their so-called revenge last month from losing last year’s NBA Finals, as they blew out the Bucks in Phoenix. This matchup should go the way of Milwaukee, as they have won 7 of the last 10 at home in this series. I will take the Bucks in this game.
The Pacers visit the Wizards on Sunday and Indiana has had all kinds of trouble winning in Washington, losing 7 of the last 10. I will take the home team and go with the Wizards in this one.
The Raptors visit the Cavaliers on ESPN on Sunday night. The Cavaliers have dominated the Raptors when the games have been in Cleveland, winning 7 of the last 10 and going 8-2 ATS. I will take the Cavaliers in this one.
The Jazz are one of the top teams in the West while the Thunder are one of the worst teams, but Utah has had all kinds of trouble through the years at Oklahoma City. I’ll look for them to struggle yet again on the road, so I will take the Thunder plus the points.
The Nuggets are one of the best teams in the West and you would think they would dominate New Orleans with the games in Denver, but that has not been the case recently, as the Pelicans have won four of the last six straight up and gone 6-0 ATS. I will take the Pelicans plus the points in this contest.
