New York Jets next games & StandingsA changing of the guard has finally taken place in New York after the previous coaching staff failed to get much of anything done over the course of their four-year stay in New Brunswick. Whether Adam Gase and his staff can do any better remains to be seen. What NFL bettors at online sportsbooks do know however is that the Jets’ roster looks to be much improved in 2019-20, and that the betting markets are buying into the franchise taking a big step in the right direction. New York only won four games a season ago and has averaged 4.7 wins over the last three seasons. Regardless, linemakers threw a 7 on the board for this season. It’s not only stayed there but heavy vigorish is currently attached to the high side of the impost. The betting markets look to be bullish on the Jets this season as do oddsmakers who expect them to come in second place of the AFC East behind the Patriots. Should they actually find a way to outsmart “The Hoodie,” those that bet them to do so would cash a juicy 5.5-1 futures ticket!
As nice it will be to see Le’Veon Bell once again toting the rock in the NFL after sitting out all of last season to end up making less money, the key ingredient to the Jets once again competing for an AFC East title will be the growth of Sam Darnold; who let’s face it, had an up and down season in his rookie campaign. The former USC Trojan ended up throwing for 2,865 yards, but only went on to complete 57.7 percent of his passes and got picked off 15 times. He also only managed to throw 17 touchdown passes. The addition of Jamison Crowder and a healthy Quincy Enunwa to the wide receiver corps should only help drastically improve those outputs, but the unheralded star could prove to be Greg Dortch who lit the collegiate landscape on fire when healthy at Wake Forest. In need of a kick and punt return specialist, he could do the same at the NFL level if he goes on to make the 53-man roster.
If the moves on the offensive side of the ball aren’t enough to get your juices flowing about wagering on this team at top rated sportsbooks, just wait to see what I have to say about the defense! For starters, the fiery Gregg Williams will be calling the shots for Gang Green. If nothing else, it will add for some hilarious soundbites. On top of that, he’s a pretty darn good defensive coordinator and will get the opportunity to call plays for a drastically improved defense with all the moves made in the offseason. Alabama’s Quinnen Williams was said to be one of the best defensive linemen to come out of the collegiate ranks in quite some time. He’s now a Jet. Also donning the green and white will be C.J. Mosley who tore thing sup for the Ravens the last five seasons. His ability to attack the sidelines will go a long way in drastically improving upon some ugly outputs from a season ago that saw New York rank in the bottom third of the league in every pertinent stat across the board. The defense will no longer be a liability.
If the Jets are to improve upon their seasonal output from a year ago and become a player in the AFC, they will have earned it. The schedule isn’t kind. Not in the least. It opens with a tough three-game slate against the Bills, Browns and Patriots. Then they go into an early Week 4 bye. Seriously, why is any team taking off a week only a month into the season?! It doesn’t get much easier out of it either with the Eagles, Cowboys, Patriots and Jaguars all lined up. The Week 9 tilt with the Dolphins could represent the first breather, but the game takes place at Hard Rock Stadium. The schedule opens up over the next six weeks, but closes with a bang against Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Buffalo; three games that could ultimately decide its playoff fate. Again, if New York qualifies for the second season, it will have earned it.
