NCAA FOOTBALL BOWL HISTORY
NCAA college football is a fascinating sport. Understanding its key features will not only help you enjoy the sport more, but also become more skilled at college football betting. The key to successful bowl betting is knowledge and research. College football teams generally play 11 games during the fall. The best of these college football teams are awarded trips to bowl games in which the season's finest teams go head to head.
These bowl games, rather than a single championship game, conclude the season. This tradition of college football dates back to 1902 at Pasadena, California, when Stanford University challenged the University of Michigan for a New Year's Day contest. This event later became known as the now-famous Rose Bowl. This bowl game and many others now serve as the climax of the college season. Today, the champion college football team is chosen by national polls of coaches and sports analysts.
Some challenge the validity of this method of selecting the champion team. Others support the selection process, claiming that a lengthy playoff season would detract from academics. College football has enthralled spectators throughout its history and promises to provide fans with exciting matches for years to come. We hope you enhance your enjoyment of the game by making use of our secure, online football betting sportsbooks. It's easy, safe, and a whole lot of fun.

Explanation
Team averages are derived by dividing a team's actual voting points by a maximum of 1525 possible points in the USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches' poll and 1625 possible points in the AP poll.
Six computer rankings calculated in inverse points order (25 for No. 1, 24 for No. 2, etc.) are used to determine the overall computer component. The best and worst ranking for each team is dropped and the remaining four are added and divided by 100 (the maximum possible points) to produce a Computer Rankings Percentage. The six computer ranking providers are Jeff Sagarin, Anderson & Hester, Richard Billingsley, Colley Matrix, Kennth Massey and Peter Wolfe. Each computer ranking accounts for schedule strength in its formula.
The BCS average is calculated by averaging the precent totals of the USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches, Associated Press and computer polls.
Note: Teams on NCAA probation (i.e. not eligible for postseason competition) are not listed in the BCS Standings.
