The 2009 game will take place from 27th July to 2nd August. The Buick Open is usually held during the second week following The Open Championship, or two weeks prior to the PGA Championship. For this reason, many prominent professional golfers use it as a "tune-up" for the much more important major tournament. The Buick Open is the third of three Buick-sponsored events on the PGA Tour.
2001 Buick Open winner Kenny Perry won the event and for the second time won it last year in 2008. Perry took home $900,000 in prize money and a brand new Buick. Perry finished 19 under par with Bubba Watson and Woody Austin finishing in second place. Kenny Perry will be defending his title again in the Buick Open 2009.
The Buick Open Course
The 18-hole “Warwick Hills” course at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club is a world-class course featuring 7,101 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 74.3 and it has a slope rating of 133 on bent grass. Designed by Joe Lee, the Warwick Hills golf course opened in 1957.
The 17th hole at Warwick, a par 3, is known for having one of the rowdiest galleries in professional golf. Fans often create chants directed at particular golfers, making it a fun place to watch the tournament. The famed 17th hole is also known by locals as the second largest outdoor cocktail party in the world. Players of the tournament love the hole because of the atmosphere it creates.
Buick Open Results
 Tiger Woods wasn't dominant, but he was good enough to win the Buick Open on Sunday in what might be the final staging of the tournament.
Woods shot 69 to finish 20 under at Warwick Hills Country Club to beat Roland Thatcher (64), Greg Chalmers (68) and John Senden (70) by three strokes.
Woods celebrated at the final two holes by tossing a golf ball to fans.
"I never do that, but today was different," said Woods, who recorded his 69th career PGA Tour win. "We're not coming back, and I wanted to thank all the people."
