Papajohns.com Bowl
The was renamed the Papajohns.com Bowl after the web site of Papa John's Pizza entered into a multi-year agreement to become the title sponsor of the inaugural postseason contest.
Staged on December 29 at Birmingham's Legion Field, the Papajohns Bowl is one of 32 bowl games on the docket after this season. It will be contested between one team from the Big East Conference and one from Conference USA.
The game will pit a team from Conference USA against a representative from the Big East, or the MAC if a Big East team fails to qualify.
In what was once called the Birmingham Bowl, the new and ".com-inspired" bowl will provide football fans with a chance to bet on another great bowl game and watch a team from Conference USA battle an opponent from the Big East.
First played in 2006, the Papajohns.com Bowl is the first bowl game played in Birmingham since the departure of the Hall of Fame Bowl (now the Outback Bowl) to Tampa, Florida in 1985, and the canceling of the All-American Bowl in 1990. The first game was played between the South Florida Bulls and the East Carolina Pirates.
The Papajohns.com Bowl is played at Legions Field in Birmingham. The stadium is home to the UAB Blazers, and seats nearly 72,000 spectators. Bet on Papajohns.com Bowl odds and be a part of college football history!
Last season’s inaugural Papajohns.com Bowl marked the return of post-season football to Birmingham. South Florida, representing the BIG EAST, defeated C-USA representative East Carolina 24-7 in front of a crowd of nearly 30,000.
